Qualifications and Experience
Professional Qualifications :
BACP Senior Registered Counsellor
M.Sc. Counselling and Psychotherapy
Cert. Counselling Supervision
B.Sc. (Hons) Psychology
EMDR qualifications parts 1 and 2
Areas of Specialism :
I see individuals and couples for a wide variety of issues, including anxiety, phobias, depression, relationships and self esteem. I have also worked for 5 years full-time as an addictions counsellor, for a major alcohol services provider. My approach to addictions work follows a Social Learning model (as opposed to a 12 step approach favoured by organisations such as AA, and often viewed by the media, and hence the public, as "the only way"). In addition, I provide counselling supervision to both trainee and experienced counsellors, and occasional bespoke training.
Personal Approach :
My approach is integrative, influenced by a number of different theories of human functioning and psychotherapy, but most notably the Humanistic and Cognitive-Behavioural schools. I am also able to take a pure Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach where this is helpful.
